Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited seeks a Metallurgical Technician at the Detour Lake Mine to support process plant operations and metallurgical testwork, ensuring accuracy and safety.

You will work a 14/14 schedule, with accommodations and meals on site, and company-provided transportation; join a collaborative team focused on continuous improvement and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in laboratory, metallurgical, or mineral processing roles.
• Associate degree or college diploma in metallurgy or related field.
• Experience with metallurgical testwork and data analysis is preferred.
• Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities; safety-focused.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine metallurgical testwork following SOPs.
• Perform bench-scale testwork including sample prep and processing studies.
• Maintain quality, accuracy and repeatability of results.
• Enter and manage data related to metallurgical testwork.
• Maintain notes on procedures and priorities; operate lab equipment.
• Inspect metallurgical lab and equipment storage facilities.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and equipment with vendors.
• Collaborate with departments to optimize plant operations.
• Mentor new team members and seek professional development.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the MetallurgicalSupervisor, you will be part of theProcess Plant OperationsDepartment.You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Conduct routine metallurgical testwork following standard operating procedures;
• Perform bench-scale metallurgical testwork including sample preparation, hydrometallurgical, and mineral processing studies;
• Maintain quality, accuracy, and repeatability of test results;
• Enter and manage data related to metallurgical testwork;
• Maintain detailed and organized notes on procedures, directions, and priorities;
• Operate and maintain laboratory and field equipment;
• Participate in routine inspections of metallurgical laboratory and equipment storage facilities;
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and equipment issues with vendors;
• Work collaboratively with team members in the department in the troubleshooting and optimization of process plant operations. Collaborate with other departments, including supply chain and environmental teams, to ensure integrated and efficient operations;
• Participate in cross-functional team meetings and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making;
• Guide new team members in metallurgical testwork methods;
• Seek opportunities for professional development and continuous learning in the field of metallurgy.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• 0-2 years of experience in laboratory, metallurgical, or mineral processing roles, preferably in the mining industry or similar environment;
• Associate degree or college diploma in metallurgy, chemical engineering, or a related field preferred;
• Relevant certifications in metallurgy or laboratory practices can be an asset;
• Experience with metallurgical testwork, sample preparation, and data analysis;
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data/production analysis tools;
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Willingness to work in a remote location and adapt to a dynamic work environment;
• Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;

• Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee.
• Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.

Compensation Statement

In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation includes base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.
