Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking a Mechanic Helper for our Detour Lake Mine to assist in maintaining and repairing mobile mining equipment. You will support technicians in shop and field tasks while promoting safety and efficiency.

The role requires a Grade 12 diploma or GED, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently or in a team. A 14/14 schedule applies with on-site accommodations, meals, and company-provided transportation.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Diploma or GED.
• Previous education or experience in Heavy Duty Techniques program preferred.
• Mechanically inclined with willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Basic computer experience is an asset.
• Physically fit to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Experience in cross-cultural teams is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist technicians with shop and field tasks.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, you will be part of the Mobile Maintenance Department. You will be responsible for assisting in the proper maintenance and repair, as well as performing preventative maintenance and operational safety inspections on all applicable equipment. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Assist technicians in all shop/field requirements as directed;
• Ensure all instruments, tools and work areas are maintained in an appropriate manner;
• Handle various instruments and tools, assisting in maintaining all applicable shop equipment;
• Assist in performing mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on all mining equipment within the mobile shop and field;
• Cleaning maintenance equipment and workplaces as directed;
• Monitor and maintain records of inventory and supplies.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• Grade 12 Diploma or GED;
• Previous educate or experience in Heavy Duty Techniques program preferred;
• Mechanically inclined and the aptitude and willingness to learn;
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
• Computer experience considered an assist;
• Physically fit with the ability/capabilities of lifting fifty pounds (50lbs);
• Proven commitment to safety, health and environmental best practices;
• Experience in cross cultural teams is considered an asset.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.

Compensation Statement

In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation includes base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.
