Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited's Detour Lake Mine in Ontario seeks an experienced Environmental Lead to guide the site's environmental program, coach staff and ensure compliance with permits, regulations and reporting requirements. You will oversee monitoring activities, mitigate environmental risks and partner with operations to embed sustainable practices in daily plans.

The role requires a university degree in environmental engineering or related field, 5–8 years of mining experience and 1–3

Qualifications

• University degree in Environmental Engineering, science or environmental discipline.
• 5-8 years progressive environmental experience in mining.
• 1-3 years supervisory experience mentoring professionals.
• Knowledge of environmental management systems.
• Knowledge of Canadian and Ontario HSE acts in mining.
• Strong field sampling methods and technical report writing.
• Advanced Excel/Office proficiency; Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.

• Lead and supervise the site environmental team, coaching staff.
• Oversee Environmental Monitoring Program and daily ops.
• Develop and implement the Environmental Management System.
• Track consumables and field equipment inventory.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory permits and reporting.

• Promote awareness of environmental requirements with heads.
• Conduct regular site audits and lead incident investigations.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

• Lead and supervise the site environmental team including coaching and developing staff and ensuring compliance with the site environmental monitoring program;
• Oversee Environmental Monitoring Program and supervise day-to-day operations of the department;
• Play a key role in development, maintenance and implementation of the Environmental Management System;
• Track consumables and field equipment supplies and inventory;
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory, permits, monitoring and reporting requirements;
• Monitor the impact of the operation on the natural environment, identify areas of risk and propose adaptive management strategies to mitigate impacts;
• Promote site awareness of environmental requirements and conditions for operations and provide support and advice to department heads on inclusion of environmental consideration in work plans;
• Undertake regular site audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures;
• Ensure incident response measures are in place, lead investigations, and prepare reports.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• University degree in Environmental Engineering, science or environmental discipline;
• 5-8 years progressive experience in an environmental role within a mining operation;
• 1-3 years in a supervisory role with demonstrated success mentoring a team of professionals;
• Knowledge of environmental management systems;
• Knowledge of Canadian and Ontario health, safety and environment acts, and any legislation directly related to the mining industry;
• Strong experience in field sampling methods and technical report writing and review are important for this role;
• Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
• Experience with EquiS Enterprise database is considered an asset.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;

Accommodation and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.

Compensation Statement

In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation includes base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.
