The project you will you be working on
The Ontario Line (“OL”) is a fully integrated, stand-alone, rapid transit system that connects Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (“NC”) project consists of approximately 7 kms of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations along the segment providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project has been divided into two main progressive design-build contracts: (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract (“EGS”) and the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract (“PTUS”), with supporting Early Works.
JOB SUMMARY
The MEP Construction Manager will oversee the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
(MEP) aspects of construction projects, ensuring that all systems are installed according
to specifications, codes, and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership,|
technical expertise, and effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Extensive expertise in Mechanical systems (HVAC and Building Automation),
Electrical, Fire Suppression, and Fire Alarm systems, with a proven ability to apply this
knowledge on-site to ensure proper installation, operation, and compliance with
design specifications.
Manage and supervise all MEP installations on-site, ensuring compliance with project
specifications, schedules, and budget constraints.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration
of MEP systems within the overall project design.
Manage the ICD related to MEP interface in construction.
Ensure coordination between MEP and other trades
Schedule review and recovery plans proposal.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of MEP work to ensure quality standards
Identify and resolve any issues related to MEP systems, providing technical guidance and solutions to the site
team.
Supervise and mentor MEP managers and coordinators, promoting best practices in installation and safety
protocols.
Ensure financial control and oversight of projects, maintaining strict budget compliance and managing
deliverables within allocated resources.
Progress billing review for trades.
Prepare regular progress reports and updates for project management, highlighting milestones, challenges, and
solutions.
WORK CONDITIONS
· Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License G or G2.
· Mobility is essential, must be willing to travel to where site-jobs are located across
Toronto.
· May require working extended hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet project deadlines.
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES
A diploma, degree, or post-graduate certificate in Engineering, Engineering
Technology, or Construction Technology is required.
8-10 years of experience in the infrastructure industry, with a proven track record of
successful project execution.
Experience managing large-scale, complex projects, especially in Joint Ventures with
multiple interfaces, is highly preferred.
Proven ability to proactively identify, document, and resolve conflicts and issues
efficiently.
Previous experience in transit-related projects is a strong asset.
Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and design details.
In-depth knowledge of trades and practices relevant to commercial construction.
Familiarity with government regulations and compliance standards within the
construction industry.
Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective
working relationships.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced
environment.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving skills.
