Job summary

Interior Health in Kamloops is seeking a Relief Full-Time Medical Office Assistant to support patient care in a busy medical office at Thompson Park Mall. You will perform clerical duties, appointment scheduling, telephone reception, and data entry.

The role requires completion of MOA training, Grade 12, and two years of related health-care experience; typing 40 wpm and a valid BC driver’s license may be required. The position offers training opportunities and a range of benefits.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 completed.
  • Graduation from a Medical Office Assistant course from an accredited Community College.
  • Two years of recent related experience in a health care setting or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence as required.
  • Completion of a 5 minute typing certificate of 40 wpm in the last 24 months (approved institution).

Responsibilities

  • Registering patients, including scheduling and confirming appointments.
  • Answering telephones, correspondence, record keeping, chart notes, reports and medical billings.
  • Data entry and word processing, graphic and database applications.
  • Balancing and checking revenue transactions.
  • Managing medical/surgical supplies and equipment and other resource material.
  • Escorting patients to examination/treatment rooms and ensuring instruments and supplies are ready.
  • Attending sensitive examination procedures and treatments; routine measurements (weight, BMI, eye exams, urinalysis).
  • Cleaning and sterilizing equipment and disposal of supplies.

Interior Health is seeking a Relief Full-Time Medical Office Assistant to join our team in Kamloops, British Columbia. This position is based at Thompson Park Mall and offers an exciting opportunity to support patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Hours of work are rotating days - 08:30 to 16:30

Days Of Work: Mon Tues 1st week, Mon Tues Wed 2nd week

Days Off: Sun, Thurs, Fri, Sat, STAT

What Will You Work On?

In this role you will perform a variety of medical office assistant and clerical duties such as:

  • Registering patients - including scheduling and confirming appointments
  • Answering telephones, general correspondence, record keeping, chart notes, reports, medical billings
  • Data entry and word processing, graphic and database applications,
  • Compiling and entering statistical information,
  • Writing correspondence including: recording, transcribing and typing forms
  • Balancing and checking revenue transactions
  • Managing medical/surgical supplies and equipment and other resource material.
  • Escorting patients to examination/treatment rooms and ensuring appropriate instruments, procedure trays or other supplies are set up;
  • Attending sensitive examination procedures and treatments; routine measurements - weight, BMI calculations, eye exams, urinalysis.
  • Cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment and instruments as well as delivery and disposal of supplies, biological, material and equipment
Qualfications
Education, Training & Experience
  • Grade 12,
  • Graduation from a Medical Office Assistant course from an accredited Community College, plus
  • Two years recent related experience in a health care setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's License as required
  • Completion of an administered 5 minute typing certificate of 40wpm in the last 24 months from an approved institution (non-supervised tests are not accepted).
