Job summary

Lytton Health Services is seeking a Casual Medical Office Assistant to join our team in Lytton, BC. The position involves front-d Desk duties, scheduling, data entry and patient support on a rotating schedule from 08:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday.

Requirements include Grade 12, completion of a Medical Office Assistant course, and two years of recent related healthcare experience. A 40 wpm typing test within 24 months is required; resumes and cover letters should accompany your application.

  • Compile and enter statistical information.
  • Write correspondence including recording, transcribing and typing forms.
  • Balance and check revenue transactions.
  • Manage medical/surgical supplies and equipment and other resource material.
  • Escort patients to examination/treatment rooms and prepare instruments and supplies.
  • Assist with examination procedures and routine measurements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of medical office assistant and clerical duties such as registering patients, including scheduling and confirming appointments.
  • Answer telephones, general correspondence, record keeping, chart notes, reports, medical billings.
  • Data entry and word processing, graphic and database applications.
  • Compile and enter statistical information.
  • Write correspondence including recording, transcribing and typing forms.
  • Balance and check revenue transactions.
  • Manage medical/surgical supplies and equipment and other resource material.
  • Escort patients to examination/treatment rooms and ensure appropriate instruments, procedure trays or other supplies are set up.
  • Attend sensitive examination procedures and treatments; routine measurements such as weight, BMI calculations, eye exams, urinalysis.
  • Clean and sterilize medical equipment and instruments as well as deliver and dispose of supplies, biological material and equipment.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12.
  • Graduation from a Medical Office Assistant course from an accredited community college.
  • Two years recent related experience in a health care setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License as required.
  • Completion of an administered 5 minute typing certificate of 40 wpm in the last 24 months from an approved institution (non-supervised tests are not accepted).
