Job summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is seeking a Mechanical Engineering co-op for an 8‑month term in Calgary, Alberta. You will join the mechanical engineering team and contribute to multiple projects under senior staff supervision.

The role emphasizes design for rugged environments, thermal and dynamic analysis, and collaboration across disciplines. You must be enrolled in a Canadian program for a co‑op work term, with opportunities to grow toward future roles.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Canadian post-secondary institution with co-op eligibility.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical designs and drawings for rugged enclosures using 3D CAD and 2D drafting; support full design life cycle from concept to production release.
• Perform thermal, stress and dynamic analysis on enclosures and equipment using FEM tools; optimize for manufacturability, weight and cost.
• Conduct engineering tests such as thermal cycling, vibration and shock testing; write test reports.
• Collaborate with PCB designers, hardware engineers and manufacturing to ensure smooth information flow.
• Participate in process-improvement activities to raise design quality and efficiency.
