Job summary

HI Lake Louise Alpine Centre invites a Maintenance Supervisor to keep our hostel and staff housing safe, functional, and welcoming in the Rockies. You’ll lead the maintenance team, handle day-to-day upkeep both inside and outside, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

You’ll bring hands-on skills with tools, basic plumbing/electrical knowledge, and strong problem solving. Join a community of travellers and enjoy staff housing perks and a dynamic mountain lifestyle.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on maintenance experience across facilities and guest areas.
  • Ability to safely operate power tools and basic repair tasks.
  • Know-how in plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry basics.
  • Strong communication and troubleshooting skills for team and guests.
  • Independent, proactive approach with ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs throughout hostel and staff areas.
  • Supervise Maintenance staff and coordinate daily activities.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations and HI Canada policies are followed.
  • Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with external contractors.
  • Collaborate with other hostel departments to meet guest needs.
  • Maintain HI Canada standards for accommodations and services.

What You’ll Do as Maintenance Supervisor

As our Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll play an important hands‑on role in keeping our hostel, guest facilities, and staff accommodations safe, functional, welcoming, and well maintained.

You’ll oversee the day‑to‑day maintenance of both the interior and exterior of the property while providing direction and support to the Maintenance team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing hands‑on maintenance and repairs throughout the hostel and staff accommodations
  • Providing direction and support to Maintenance staff
  • Ensuring health and safety regulations and HI Canada policies and procedures are followed
  • Troubleshooting maintenance issues and finding practical solutions
  • Coordinating with external contractors and trades when required
  • Working closely with other hostel departments to ensure guest and operational needs are met
  • Helping ensure our accommodations and services meet HI Canada standards
  • Other duties as required
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is hands‑on, practical, resourceful, and enjoys solving problems.

You’ll bring:

  • Previous experience safely and responsibly operating power tools
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry
  • Strong communication and troubleshooting skills
  • The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • A proactive approach to maintenance and problem solving
  • A valid driver's licence
