Job summary

Chartwell Retirement Residences in Ottawa is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee the residence's maintenance, equipment, furnishings, and surrounding areas to support resident safety and comfort.

The role requires 1–3 years of supervisory maintenance experience, hands-on skills, and the ability to coordinate with vendors while prioritizing safety and reliability. A valid driver’s license and on-site availability are preferred traits.

Qualifications

• Minimum one to three years' experience in a supervisor role
• Extensive experience in building maintenance and systems; ability to coordinate tasks with vendors and perform hands‑on repairs
• Trade certification or maintenance training preferred
• Experience with carpentry, plumbing, painting, and equipment preferred
• Supervisory or leadership experience in maintenance or building operations
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills; able to plan and prioritize work
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Clear communicator with strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
• Knowledge of safety procedures within healthcare an asset
• Flexible for on‑call and varied hours
• Valid Driver’s License, or reliable means of transportation

The Opportunity

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license may be required
• Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and climbing
