Job summary

Finning Canada in Regina is seeking a Journeyperson Machinist to join our team. The role requires you to machine parts to specification, measure parts with precision instruments, and set up and operate machine tools. Experience with Caterpillar equipment is a plus.

We offer an industry-leading wage between $46.12 and $55.07 per hour, plus paid time off in year one, employer-paid medical benefits, pension, and employee-matched share purchase options. CAT certified training is provided at Finning.

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Machinist certification
• 3+ years of shop experience

Responsibilities

• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders
• Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments
• Set up, adjust and operate basic machine tools to perform machine operations
• Monitor feeds and speeds during machining
• Select tools, machines and materials for machinery work
• Diagnose machine malfunctions and determine adjustments or repairs
• Experience with Caterpillar equipment/engines is an asset

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:

• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders
• Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
• Set up, adjust and operate all of the basic machine tools in order to perform machine operations
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
• Select appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs
• Previous experience with Caterpillar equipment/engines would be considered an asset.

Qualifications:
