Job summary

Finning Canada is seeking a Machinist based in Regina to machine parts to exact specifications using lathes, milling machines and related tools. The role includes measuring parts with precision instruments, setting up machines, and monitoring operations to ensure high quality outputs.

Qualified candidates hold an Interprovincial Machinist certification with 3+ years of shop experience. CAT certified training and comprehensive benefits are offered by Finning.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Machinist certification (Interprovincial) required.
• 3+ years of shop experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Machine parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders.
• Measure, examine and test units using micrometers and precision tools.
• Set up and operate basic machine tools to perform operations.
• Monitor machine feed and speed during machining.
• Select tools, machines and materials for work preparation.
• Diagnose machine malfunctions and determine need for adjustments or repairs.
• Experience with Caterpillar equipment is an asset.

Job Description:
Major Job Functions:

• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders
• Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
• Set up, adjust and operate all of the basic machine tools in order to perform machine operations
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
• Select appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs
• Previous experience with Caterpillar equipment/engines would be considered an asset.

Qualifications:

• Interprovincial Machinist certification
• 3+ years of shop experience
