Job summary

Finning Canada is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to perform field maintenance and repairs on Caterpillar engines and auxiliary equipment around Grande Prairie. A Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification and a valid driver’s license are required, with the role based in Grande Prairie.

You should be safety-conscious, autonomous, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while providing excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification is required.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Heavy Duty Technician.
• Safety-conscious team player with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment in a field environment.
• Interact with customers, product and sales support, and the Finning team.
• Work with the supervisor on various tasks.
• Provide on-site safety compliance support.
• Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment.
• Complete technical documentation and reports.

Major Job Functions

• Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on equipment in a field environment
• Interact with customers, product and sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
• Working with the supervisor on various tasks
• Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
• Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
• Complete technical documentation and reports

Specific Skills & Experience

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Heavy Duty Technician
• Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
• Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset
• Completion or be in the process of completing Finning S-level courses would also be considered an asset

Notes

• Availability to occasionally work out of town for a week
• Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement.
• Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement
