Key Responsibilities

• Transport a wide range of mining-related equipment, parts, and supplies to various operational sites.
• Operate heavy-duty commercial vehicles (e.g., articulated trucks, flatbeds) safely and efficiently, often over long distances and challenging terrain.
• Conduct meticulous pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checks on tires, brakes, and specialized cargo securing equipment.
• Ensure all cargo is loaded, secured, and unloaded according to stringent safety standards and specific site requirements.
• Adhere to strict delivery schedules, often requiring overnight travel and flexibility with working hours.
• Maintain accurate and detailed logs of journeys, fuel consumption, cargo status, and any incidents.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, site managers, and clients regarding delivery status, potential delays, or route challenges.
• Comply rigorously with all road safety regulations, mining sector safety protocols, and company policies.
• Perform basic field maintenance and troubleshooting on the vehicle when necessary.
• Maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of the assigned vehicle and equipment.

Requirements

• Valid Code 14 (EC) driver's license with an unendorsed Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• Minimum of 6 years of verifiable professional driving experience, with significant experience in long-distance haulage, particularly supporting industrial or mining operations.
• A clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents.
• Proven ability to operate heavy-duty commercial vehicles safely and reliably in diverse conditions.
• Excellent knowledge of the Northern Cape road network, including remote and unpaved routes relevant to the mining industry.
• Strong navigational skills and experience with GPS and map reading in remote areas.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently for extended periods.
• High level of responsibility, punctuality, and resilience.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform loading/unloading tasks and assist with basic vehicle maintenance.
