Job summary

Elis is recruiting a logistics professional to join our operations team in Durham. You will ensure vehicle and driver compliance with licences and legal requirements, monitor results and drive continuous improvement in the working environment.

You will lead planning and resource coordination, develop budgets, optimise routes for profitability, and drive continuous improvement with lean principles and data analysis. A strong communicator with IT literacy and relevant licences is essential.

Qualifications

• Good written and verbal skills.
• Ability to listen to and influence peers to build and lead effective teams.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to analyse data to improve performance.
• Ability to organise self and others to meet deadlines.
• IT literate (Microsoft Office).
• Experience of lean (Six Sigma) implementation in lean manufacturing systems.
• Financial knowledge covering budget forecasting.
• CPC holder.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicle and driver compliance with licences and legal requirements, monitoring results and implementing corrective action for continuous improvement.
• Undertake risk assessments on customer premises for major changes/new business.
• Investigate, analyse and implement corrective actions to resolve logistics problems and improve routes and service.
• Plan, organise and coordinate resources to meet logistics requirements, including temporary workers.
• Lead, manage and develop personnel using SMART objectives during reviews.
• Develop budgets and monitor variances; ensure routes are profitable.
• Prepare driver commissions and maintain relevant systems.
• Develop and maintain good relationships between logistics, service and production teams.
• Drive continuous improvement and reduce environmental impact through route efficiency.
• Ensure drivers deliver high levels of customer service.
