Job description

Title: Logistics Coordinator

Industry: Valves (Industrial Distribution)

Location: Brossard

Overview

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the movement of goods occurs in an efficient manner for the lowest possible cost. While working in close cooperation with the accounting department, the review and approval of invoices from transport service providers is an integral part of this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Make sure that charges are appropriate for the service provide and the size of the shipment
  • Follow up with suppliers and/or CVE staff regarding any discrepancies
  • Assist the accounting department regarding approval of supplier invoices
  • Negotiate rates with preferred suppliers
  • Provide instructions to manufacturers for the movement of goods to CVE locations
  • Provide instructions to the shipping department for implementation of the policy
  • Provide advice on choice of transporter when required
  • Provide assistance for completion of customs documents
  • Provide feedback when appropriate when errors are made leading to higher than expected costs
  • Provide advice regarding the movement of hazardous materials to make sure regulatory requirements are met
  • Track shipments
  • Where required, provide documents for customer clearance and follow up to resolve any delays on the movement of goods
  • Ensure the custom codes are correctly applied
  • Communicate with freight forwarders and customs brokers to resolve problems
  • Communicate with suppliers for issues with damaged goods and prepare claims
  • Manage all requirements of the CARM program for cross border shipments and communications with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)
Qualifications
  • Strong English with a proficient French
  • Experience in industrial distribution is an asset
  • Handling Ground transport from and to the USA
  • 5 days in office
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while applying problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and the purchasing/invoicing/payables cycle
  • Sufficiently computer literate to make enquiries for information in the ERP to then perform analysis
