What you will achieve in this role:
- Oversee the end-to-end processing of letters of credit, including issuance, advising, amendment, cancellation, and bill booking, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and industry standards.
- Manage standby letters of credit and related activities such as claims, amendments, and monthly reconciliations, maintaining strict turnaround times.
- Coordinate the daily processing of export advising and import LC issuance, handling amendments and bill settlement while maintaining high accuracy.
- Monitor SWIFT messaging and transaction queues, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all incoming LC-related instructions and client requests.
- Validate SWIFT communications, payment entries, and documentary collections across both import and export channels, supporting a departmental STP rate of 98.5%+.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory guidelines (e.g., ISP98, UCP 600) and internal quality control standards across all trade finance and loan servicing tasks.
- Provide operational support for the setup and administration of credit transactions within banking systems such as Loan IQ, ensuring data accuracy and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (credit, legal, relationship managers) and external banking partners to resolve discrepancies and streamline documentation flows.
What you must bring to this role:
- Must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in corporate banking, loan operations, or credit administration.
- Must have 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting loan servicing, credit documentation, or financial operations within a commercial lending environment.
- Must have the ability to read and understand credit agreements, loan terms, and trade finance documentation.
- Must be experienced with letters of credit, including standbys, guarantees, import/export LCs, and relevant transaction workflows in the Canadian market.
- Expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of international standards related to LCs and guarantees, including ISP98 and UCP 600.
- Requires comfort working in a structured, high-volume environment with shifting priorities, including hybrid work arrangements.
- Should bring strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
- Needs proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with platforms such as Loan IQ, SWIFT, credit review systems, and document management tools.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across departments and manage external interactions professionally.
