Job summary

Sentinel Dock & Door Solutions is hiring a Lead Hand, Service Technician to oversee and mentor technicians, diagnose and repair overhead doors, and perform on-site welding. You’ll manage work orders, maintain tools, and ensure safety and quality on every assignment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Lead Hand working with loading dock systems and commercial overhead doors.
• Hands-on welding experience, with the ability to support on-site repairs and custom work.
• Valid, clean driver’s license with reliable transportation to get you to and from job sites.
• Strong mechanical aptitude - you’re confident using hand tools, power tools, and troubleshooting on the fly.
• Comfortable working at heights and in fast-paced, physically active environments.
• A positive, team-first mindset with a willingness to step up, support others, and get the job done right.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor Service Technician Apprentices, helping develop the next generation of skilled trades professionals.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair overhead doors, loading dock systems, and related equipment - keeping operations running safely and efficiently.
• Perform on-site welding and fabrication to support high-quality installations and repairs.
• Accurately complete work orders, inspection reports, and site documentation, including photos.
• Take ownership of your tools and equipment- ensuring everything is well-maintained, safe, and ready to go.
• Champion safety and customer experience on every job, delivering work you can stand behind.
• Support and collaborate with teammates on more complex installs and service calls.
• Communicate clearly with both customers and internal teams to keep projects moving and expectations aligned.
