Job summary

Leavitt Machinery is seeking a mechanically skilled Dock & Door Field Technician to join our Service team in Ottawa, Ontario. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain warehouse dock systems and overhead doors, and participate in preventive maintenance to support loyal customers.

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will work independently with strong time management, handle lifting and climbing tasks, and communicate clearly with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Dock & Door Technician, Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, or similar trade is an asset.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Basic welding knowledge is an asset.
• Ability to work independently with strong time-management skills.
• Comfort with physical tasks including lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain warehouse dock systems, dock levelers, seals, shelters, bumpers, and related components.
• Service and repair various types of overhead/rolling steel doors, high-speed doors, and associated hardware.
• Complete preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Respond to service calls in a timely, professional manner.
• Document work performed and communicate findings to customers and internal teams.
• Ensure all work meets company standards and adheres to safety regulations.
• Assist with installations of new dock and door equipment as required.
