Job summary

Clean Harbors in Breslau, ON, is seeking a Lead Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy diesel equipment. The role requires ensuring health and safety, supervising mechanics, and coordinating repairs to keep equipment reliable and compliant.

The ideal candidate has a 310T certification, over 5 years of heavy‑duty maintenance experience, and strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and CVIP inspections. Ontario driver’s license and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Licensed Mechanic with 310T certification.
• 5+ years’ experience maintaining heavy‑duty units (trucks, tractors, trailers).
• Familiarity with diesel engines.
• Ability to lead in a team environment.
• Experience with electrical, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulics, engines.
• Valid full driver’s license.
• Experience with CVIP inspections.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize health and safety and enforce safe work practices.
• Assign work to other mechanics and update repair order status.
• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair light and heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure reliability.
• Complete and maintain warranty and maintenance documentation.
• Mentor apprentices as needed.
• Perform safety checks and annual vehicle inspections as required.
• Communicate maintenance decisions with internal customers and inventory teams.

Clean Harbors in Breslau, ON location is currently looking for a Lead Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining / repairing heavy diesel equipment within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
• Actively manages safety within Maintenance workshop and completes required safety activities such as monthly inspections, updates safety boards, conduct daily toolbox talks, etc as per company safety policy;
• Assign work to other mechanics and update the status of the Repair Orders
• Perform inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on light & heavy‑duty vehicles and various types of equipment.
• Conduct routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
• Complete and maintain warranty and maintenance documentation.
• Disassemble, inspect, and replace worn, damaged, or defective components as required.
• Mentor Apprentice's as required.
• Conduct Safety Checks & Annual Vehicle Inspections in accordance with provincial & federal laws.
• Respond to internal customer service calls and discuss maintenance and repair decisions with internal customer, inventory, and asset management as required. All updates submitted in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment through regular housekeeping activities.

Qualifications

• Licensed Mechanic Certification (310T license)
• 5 + years' experience in maintaining of one or more of the following units: pickup trucks, tractors, and trailers;
• Familiarity with the various types of diesel engines;
• Ability to lead in a team environment.
• Must be versed in all aspects e.g. electrical, computer, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulic systems, engines etc.
• Ability or get or have DriveOn.
• Valid full drivers license
• Experience with CVIP Inspections,
