Jackman Eye Institute in Canada is seeking a full-time Lane Technician to support ophthalmologists and optometrists in delivering comfortable, high-quality eye care. You will welcome patients, prepare them for examinations, and help ensure smooth clinic flow.

The role requires ophthalmic assistant training or equivalent medical experience, familiarity with ophthalmic equipment, strong communication, and meticulous record keeping.

Competenze

  • Completion of an ophthalmic assistant program or equivalent experience in a medical setting.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and procedures, medical terminology, and basic anatomy and physiology.
  • A patient-focused approach with the ability to explain and reassure patients with diverse needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients, physicians, and team members.

  • Welcome patients and prepare them for eye examinations by gathering medical histories, explaining testing, and helping them feel comfortable.
  • Perform preliminary eye examinations, including measuring visual acuity and intraocular pressure.
  • Administer eye drops as directed by the physician.
  • Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists during procedures by preparing equipment and positioning patients.
  • Support patient education by reinforcing instructions about eye health and care.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Welcome patients and prepare them for eye examinations by gathering medical histories, explaining testing, and helping them feel comfortable.
  • Perform preliminary eye examinations, including measuring visual acuity, checking intraocular pressure, and assessing eye muscle function.
  • Administer eye drops as directed by the physician.
  • Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists during clinical procedures by preparing equipment, positioning patients, and providing instruments.
  • Support patient education by reinforcing instructions from the clinical team about eye health, treatments, and preventative care.
  • Accurately document medical histories, test results, and care provided in patient records.
  • Clean and prepare examination rooms, maintain and sterilize equipment as required, and keep supplies stocked.
  • Work closely with the clinical team to support patient flow while following health, safety, and infection control protocols.
