Job summary

EMSL Canada, Inc. in Mississauga, Ontario, is seeking a full-time lab assistant to prepare environmental samples and support sample-related activities in a busy lab.

Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or GED and the ability to lift 25 lbs, with color discrimination for analyses. Flexible weekday schedule applies, and EMSL offers supplemental benefits and paid time off.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare environmental samples prior to analysis.
• Operate balances, HEPA filtered fume hoods, filtration systems and furnaces to prep samples.
• Support all sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation, and disposal.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
• Other duties as deemed necessary by the manager.

Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare environmental samples prior to analysis Air Sample Prep, Bulk Sample Prep, Dust, Water, Soil
• Utilization of balances, HEPA filtered fume hoods, filtration systems and muffle furnaces to prep samples
• Support all sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation, and disposal
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Qualifications/Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Authorization to work in Canada indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25lbs and standing for various lengths of time
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shifts

Position is full time, Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
