EMSL Canada, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Mississauga, ON. No laboratory experience is required, just a willingness to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices.

On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. The role involves preparing and analyzing asbestos content using PLM, PCM, and TEM, with a Monday–Friday schedule, and an $21.00 hourly wage.

Qualifications

  • 2 year Diploma in Geology or related science is a plus.
  • Authorization to work in Canada indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Light microscopy/optical mineralogy training preferred.
  • Some laboratory experience in academic or commercial setting.
  • 0 to 1 years' experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.
  • Ability to distinguish colors for analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM, PCM, and TEM.
  • Determine visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos materials.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS.
  • Perform QA/QC per manual.
  • Handle administrative duties including sample login/data entry, scanning and emailing reports, and answering phones.

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Toronto, ON. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
  • Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
  • Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
  • Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
  • Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
  • Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
  • Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager
QualificationsRequirements:

  • Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance
Available Shift:

Position is full time, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
