EMSL Canada is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Mississauga, ON. No laboratory experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided. Responsibilities include preparation and analysis of asbestos samples using PLM, PCM, TEM, and QA/QC procedures.

The role offers a full-time schedule (Tue-Sat, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.), with training during the initial weeks. The pay range is $21.00 to $22.05 per hour, and EMSL Canada provides benefits and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related science is required.
• Authorized to work in Canada indefinitely without sponsorship.
• Light microscopy/optical mineralogy training preferred.
• 0–1 year experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.
• Bilingual in English and French.
• Ability to distinguish colors for analysis.
• Ability to travel for training to EMSL locations (US/Canada).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM, PCM, and TEM.
• Determine visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS.
• Perform QA/QC per manual.
• Administrative duties including sample login, data entry, report emailing, and phone handling.
• Travel for training as required.

On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. **Essential Duties & Responsibilities:** Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager## Qualifications**Requirements:** Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science is required Authorization to work in Canada indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred Some Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis Bilingual in English and French Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance Ability to travel for training to another EMSL location either to U.S. and/or Canada **Available Shift**: Position is full-time, Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., training to start will be Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Mississauga are encouraged to apply.
