Job summary

EMSL Canada in Toronto is seeking a Laboratory Analyst II (Microbiology) to prepare and analyze samples for fungi and bacteria, including Legionella classical and advanced methods for microbial and bio-aerosol analysis.

You will generate analytical reports, enter data into the LIMS system, maintain equipment, perform QC, and handle administrative duties such as sample login and report distribution. This full-time, on-site role offers supplemental benefits and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Life Science, preferably Biology or Microbiology.
• 2-3 years of laboratory experience with microbiological analyses.
• Proficiency with sterile techniques and good lab practices.

Job description

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst II (Microbiology) in Toronto, ON.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Preparation and analysis of Microbiological samples (air, water, and bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria including Legionella Classical and advanced methods for microbial and bio-aerosol analysis
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Life Science is required, preferably in Biology or Microbiology with at least 1 Microbiology lab
• Authorization to work in Canada indefinitely and without restriction or sponsorship
• 2-3 years laboratory experience with preparing and analyzing samples for various microbiological tests.
• Ability to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
• Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude
• Effective time management organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistance
• Leadership and/or previous management experience a plus
• Must be able to work overtime as needed

Available Shift: Position is full time, Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
