Job summary

Steam Whistle Brewing Inc. in Toronto, Ontario is seeking a part-time kitchen assistant to deliver an outstanding dining experience, assist with menu development, labeling, and ensuring top-quality food leaves the kitchen.

You will maintain kitchen cleanliness, manage dishes and glassware, and uphold service standards. Work 2–4 shifts weekly, including some weekends/evenings; hours align with 11am–10pm daily. Compensation CAD 18–19 per hour, plus tip-out plan.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of food, wine, and beer.
• Physically fit for long periods of standing, lifting and moving kitchen items.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Solid understanding and practical knowledge of restaurant business principles and service etiquette.
• Team player with the ability to work under pressure and manage priorities.

• Proper downsizing and labeling of all products.
• Ensure that the highest quality of food leaves the kitchen.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen.
• Collect all dishes, cutlery, and glasses.
• Clean kitchen tools and appliances thoroughly before use.
• Ensure all dishes, cutlery, and glasses are thoroughly cleansed and stored in the appropriate space.
• Maintain the kitchen by cleaning floors, storage areas, and taking out the garbage.
• Adhere to Steam Whistle's Service standards and policies.
• Follow all Steam Whistle's Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required by the Head Chef.

You will be offered 2 - 4 shifts per week, including some weekends and evenings.
The salary range is $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, plus part of the tip-out plan
Our restaurant is open 11am to 10pm every day.
We do not use artificial intelligence during our selection process
Skills and Experience Required:

• Comprehensive knowledge of food, wine, and beer
