Job summary

Actalent in Waterloo, Ontario seeks a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to build automated test frameworks using Python and contribute to a fully automated CI/CD pipeline supporting automotive infotainment and connectivity projects.

You will develop Python-based automation, analyze results, debug failures, and collaborate with dev and test teams to ensure high-quality software releases, while maintaining automation nodes and testing environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of professional Python development experience.
• Experience with automated testing environments and frameworks such as PyTest or similar.
• Ability to debug and troubleshoot code and test failures.

Responsibilities

• Execute automated tests, analyze results, and validate fixes to ensure software quality.
• Monitor lab equipment and support automation-related issues across teams.
• Maintain and upgrade test environments and automation nodes.
• Develop Python-based test scripts to verify new features and improve coverage.
• Participate in code reviews and adhere to good coding practices.
• Interface with development teams to translate testing needs into solutions.
• Debug and troubleshoot code and test failures to resolve issues promptly.
• Write clean, well-documented code that is easy to maintain.
• Support a fully automated CI/CD pipeline and large fleet of nodes.
