Job summary

Randstad Digital is seeking a QA Engineer / SDET for a 12-month contract in Toronto. You will lead test planning, build automation frameworks, and execute comprehensive test suites to ensure functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements are met.

You will collaborate with cross-functional Scrum teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, design test data, manage environments, and drive defect triage and resolution. Hybrid onsite model offered in Toronto, ON.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of testing experience with 5+ years of test automation experience.
• Experience in QA automation using Java, Selenium, and Cucumber.
• Strong SQL skills and API testing experience.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, ALM tools, and Jira.

Responsibilities

• Lead team test planning, refine user stories, and set acceptance criteria.
• Design and maintain detailed test cases and traceability matrices.
• Build, extend, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks.
• Manage test data and environments with data privacy in mind.
• Execute manual and automated tests (Smoke, Integration, Regression) and report defects.
• Maintain test suites across environments and support promotions to higher environments.

Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced QA Engineer / SDET to join our team on a 12-month contract. In this role, you will lead test planning, build automation frameworks, and execute comprehensive test suites to ensure our applications meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional Scrum teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, complex software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Strategy & Planning: Lead test planning activities at the team level. Help refine user stories in Scrum, establish clear acceptance criteria, and define clear in-scope and out-of-scope boundaries.
• Test Case Design & Traceability: Develop, structure, and maintain detailed test cases based on requirements. Build and manage full forward and backward traceability matrices back to initial requirements.
• Automation & Framework Development: Design, implement, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for applicable test types. Identify ongoing opportunities for test automation.
• Test Data & Environment Management: Condition, generate, and design test data while strictly adhering to data compliance and privacy requirements across all environments.
• Execution & Defect Management: Execute manual and automated test suites (Smoke, Integration, Regression). Record test results, report defects with thorough diagnostic context, and assist in defect triaging and resolution.
• Suite Maintenance: Maintain and catalog test suites across all environments and support necessary promotion steps to higher-level environments.

Required Experience & Skills

• Experience: 5+ years of overall testing experience, including 5+ years of hands‑on Test Automation experience.
• Automation & Core Tech: Strong proficiency in Java, Selenium, Cucumber, and API testing.
• Database & Querying: Solid experience with SQL.
• Process & Tooling: Expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies, ALM tools, and Jira.

Highly Desired Qualifications

• Domain Experience: Prior background in the Banking / Financial Services industry (Strongly Preferred).
• Development Skills: Hands‑on experience with Core Java development.
• Database & Process Tools: Familiarity with MongoDB and Micro Focus ALM Octane.
