Job summary

EPITEC in Ottawa is seeking a Senior Automation Developer to design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions for advanced automotive software. You will build scalable frameworks and support verification of embedded systems and infotainment platforms.

The role emphasizes Python, OOP, test automation, and CI/CD, with collaboration across software engineering, validation teams, and external suppliers in a hybrid onsite model (4 days/week in Ottawa).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of professional experience in software verification, validation, test automation, or related software quality engineering disciplines.
• 5+ years of experience developing automation strategies, test frameworks, and comprehensive test plans.
• Strong expertise in Python programming and object-oriented software development.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing automated testing solutions.
• Experience with software configuration management systems, source control platforms, and CI/CD environments.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and Agile practices.
• Ability to work onsite four days per week in Ottawa, Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test solutions for automotive software products.
• Translate product and software requirements into verification and validation strategies.
• Create and maintain automated test frameworks, test suites, and validation tools using Python and OOP principles.
• Develop scalable and reliable automation architectures that support evolving software platforms and releases.
• Implement and improve test automation strategies across multiple verification and validation scopes and integration levels.
• Collaborate with software design, development, and verification teams to ensure product quality throughout the software lifecycle.
• Participate in Agile development processes with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and recommend enhancements from a software verification perspective.
• Leverage configuration management, source control, DevSecOps practices, and reliability engineering to improve testing efficiency and product quality.
• Verify and validate software functionality across automotive operating systems and infotainment platforms.
• Contribute to modern testing methodologies including TDD and BDD.
• Support troubleshooting, maintenance, observability, and operational excellence initiatives for deployed software solutions.
