Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is seeking a Junior Estimator / Estimating Coordinator to join its GTA-based estimating team. The role supports preconstruction from early project review through tendering, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and preparing bid documentation for a variety of commercial and institutional projects.

You will review drawings and specs, coordinate with internal teams and trade partners, and help ensure tenders are accurate, competitive and on schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience in preconstruction, estimating coordination or tender administration.

Responsibilities

Junior Estimator / Estimating Coordinator - ICI Construction Location: GTA, Ontario Salary: $70,000-$85,000 per year, depending on experience

About The Opportunity

A well-established construction organization is seeking a Junior Estimator / Estimating Construction Coordinator to join its estimating and preconstruction team. This is a confidential opportunity with a respected company involved in a range of commercial, institutional, industrial, retail and interior construction projects across the GTA. The successful candidate will support the preconstruction process from early project review through tendering, subcontractor coordination, pricing analysis and handover to the project delivery team. This role is well suited to someone with experience in construction coordination, estimating support or tender administration who is comfortable reviewing drawings and specifications, coordinating subcontractor pricing, preparing bid documentation and managing multiple deadlines. You will work with internal estimating and project teams, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure tenders are organized, competitive, accurate and completed on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate preconstruction, tender and budgeting activities for upcoming construction projects
• Prepare, organize and maintain tender packages, bid documentation, bid forms, tender logs and instructions to bidders
• Issue subcontractor and supplier RFQs and follow up to ensure adequate bid coverage
• Assist with subcontractor prequalification and maintain communication with the trade network throughout the tender process
• Review architectural, structural and MEP drawings and specifications to identify project scope and tender requirements
• Prepare and assist with quantity takeoffs and estimating documentation
• Review subcontractor quotations and support bid levelling and scope comparisons
• Identify scope discrepancies, exclusions and potential scope gaps and coordinate RFIs where required
• Assist with procurement planning and coordination of subcontractors and suppliers
• Support preparation of bid packages, proposals and other preconstruction submissions
• Coordinate documentation between estimating, project management, consultants, subcontractors and other project stakeholders
• Assist with cost, budget and constructability reviews during the preconstruction phase
• Support Design-Build and Construction Management projects through design and technical coordination
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs and design review meetings
• Maintain tender tracking, project information, procurement logs and status reports
• Assist with the transition of awarded projects from estimating/preconstruction into the project delivery team
• Support change order, purchase order and other construction documentation as required

Qualifications

• Previous experience in preconstruction, estimating coordination, project coordination or a similar construction role
• Experience working with a General Contractor or within the ICI construction sector is strongly preferred
• Exposure to commercial, institutional, industrial, retail or interior renovation projects is an asset
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings and specifications
• Experience coordinating subcontractor RFQs, tender packages and bid documentation
• Understanding of quantity takeoffs, scope review and bid levelling
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable coordinating with subcontractors, consultants, internal project teams and clients
• Construction Management, Architectural, Engineering or related educational background considered an asset
