Position Objectives

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Junior Engineer will support Manufacturing Operations by participating in project engineering initiatives, process improvements, and troubleshooting production or project issues. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. The engineer will be responsible for process analysis, equipment support, and contributing to capital and operational projects.

This role is perfect for individuals with some experience looking to grow their careers in a fast-paced and expanding chemical manufacturing environment.

This is an onsite position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of engineering projects.
  • Participate in capital projects involving equipment installation, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Support project documentation, including scope definition, technical drawings, and reports.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for equipment procurement and commissioning.
  • Help ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Monitor and analyze production processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Assist in troubleshooting process issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to optimize workflow and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with operators and technicians to implement best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting for key performance metrics.
  • Participate in training and development programs to expand technical knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in project execution and budget control is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial machinery.
  • Experience interpreting and reading technical engineering drawings (P&ID).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to industrial equipment.
  • Requires occasional lifting, standing, and working in confined spaces.
  • May require occasional travel for vendor visits or training.
  • Occasional need for extended hours to support production needs.
