The Transportation Planning group is actively seeking a junior engineer or technologist eager to gain experience and responsibility through diverse transportation engineering and planning projects.

The group supports infrastructure projects with transportation planning, traffic operations, safety, modeling, and functional design expertise.

As part of our transportation team, you will provide clients with traffic engineering and transportation planning services, involving aspects such as traffic safety, transportation planning, and traffic modeling for municipal, provincial, and private sector clients.

Duties:

• Support transportation engineers and project managers through technical analysis, modeling, field investigations, and report writing.
• Contribute to transportation studies, including multi-modal studies, master plans, environmental assessments, traffic impact studies, TDM, active transportation, and parking studies.
• Utilize software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, Arcady, VISSIM, and MS Office for analysis and reporting.
• Conduct field investigations like site visits and traffic data collection.
• Assist in creating construction drawings for pavement markings, signage, and traffic management plans following standards like the Ontario Traffic Manuals.
• Support technical staff with additional tasks as needed.
• Prepare presentation materials for public consultations and agency meetings.

Qualifications:

• A degree in Civil Engineering (with a transportation focus) or a College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (with a transportation emphasis).
• 0-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in consulting.
• A valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G) and access to a personal vehicle.
• Strong communication, report writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of intersection studies, corridor analyses, safety assessments, and traffic signal optimization principles.
• Understanding of geometric design and traffic engineering principles (e.g., TAC, OTM).
• Experience with traffic demand forecasting and impact analysis techniques.
• Experience with traffic engineering software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, Arcady, VISSIM is an asset.
