The Transportation Planning group is seeking a junior engineer or technologist to gain experience and responsibility through diverse transportation engineering and planning projects.

The group supports infrastructure projects involving transportation planning, traffic operations, safety, modeling, and functional design.

As part of our team, you will provide traffic engineering and transportation planning services to clients.

You will be involved in areas such as traffic safety, transportation planning, and traffic modeling for municipal, provincial, and private sector clients.

Duties:

• Support transportation engineers and project managers through technical analysis, modeling, field investigations, and report writing.
• Contribute to transportation studies, including multi-modal, master plans, environmental assessments, traffic impact, TDM, active transportation, and parking studies.
• Utilize software like Synchro, SimTraffic, Arcady, VISSIM, and MS Office for analysis and reporting.
• Conduct field investigations, traffic data collection, and analyze transportation conditions.
• Assist in creating construction drawings for pavement markings, signage, traffic management, and detour plans following standards like the Ontario Traffic Manuals.
• Support technical staff with additional duties as assigned.
• Help prepare presentation materials for public and agency consultations, including open houses and information centers.

Qualifications:

• A degree in Civil Engineering with a transportation focus or a College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with a transportation focus.
• 0-3 years of professional experience, preferably in consulting.
• A valid Ontario Driver’s Licence (Class G) and access to a personal vehicle.
• Strong communication, report writing, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of intersection studies, corridor analyses, safety assessments, and traffic signal optimization principles.
• Understanding of geometric design and traffic engineering principles (e.g., TAC, OTM).
• Knowledge of traffic demand forecasting and impact analysis techniques.
• Experience with traffic engineering software like Synchro, SimTraffic, Arcady, VISSIM is an asset.
