Job summary

SaskAbilities is seeking an Employment Supports Specialist to help clients achieve employment goals through collaborative planning with clients and employers.

You will conduct worksite analyses, design training plans, and provide on-the-job coaching while building strong relationships with employers and providing essential disability education for inclusive workplaces.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Human Service, or Education.
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring others.
  • Knowledge of supported employment practices and principles.
  • Understanding of, and the ability to support people with disabilities and the employment barriers they encounter.
  • Understanding of OH&S, Labour Standards and workplace accommodations.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and employers to develop individualized action plans and provide effective employment supports.
  • Complete worksite/task analysis to understand duties and develop training plans.
  • Provide on-the-job training to develop independent work skills and responsible role modelling.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with employers to support business outcomes.
  • Provide disability education to employers and their staff for inclusive workplaces.
  • Provide job carving and development recommendations to the team.
  • Develop fading processes after training to match client and employer needs.
  • Complete and update documentation supporting planning and reporting.

Job description

Compensation Pay Class 15 (range of $29.01 to $36.05 per hour) plus benefit package.

Partners in Employment provides supported employment services to individuals who have a goal of employment and experience disability. Duties and responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with clients and employers to develop individualized action plans and offer effective employment supports, relevant to the client and their employer.
  • Complete worksite/task analysis in order to understand worksite duties and develop training plans that accommodate individual learning needs.
  • Provide individualized on-the-job training to develop independent work skills (hard skills, work habits and/or workplace integration) and responsible role modelling.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with employers to ensure understanding of their needs, providing strategies that will assist them in supporting their employee while achieving business outcomes.
  • Provide disability education to employers and their staff to ensure that each client is well understood and respected in the workplace.
  • Provide job carving and development recommendations to the Partners in Employment team.
  • Develop and implement a fading process once training is completed that is suited to both client and employer needs.
  • Complete and update documentation or reports that support person centered planning, outcome achievement, evaluative information, employer details and other information as required.
