Job summary

Manitoba Possible. is seeking a Senior Job Coach to work with the Program Manager on planning and delivering diverse projects.

You will develop employment connections in the community, recruit participants and coordinate intake for the program, and provide on-site support during work experiences. • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline or education and experience in the area of direct delivery of employment services.
• Ability to support and provide training to participants with disabilities in any employment situation.
• Ability to represent Manitoba Possible in a business like and professional manner.
• Knowledge of disabilities and associated functional limitations.
• Awareness of job accommodations.
• Sensitive to Diversity.
• Creative problem solving and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Outlook and Word.
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment and Intake of consumers to the program. Provide one-on-one and group support to participants for vocational planning, including general interest identification, assessment of employment readiness, job search skills, and aptitudes.
• Connect and build relationships with employers in the community to develop a pool of employers and workplaces receptive to hosting job shadow and work experience placements and to considering consumers for employment openings.
• Provide community-based job training/support to participants in work experience situations, which may include systematically training participants to perform job duties while on the job.
• Provide on-site support to participants and/or employers for the purpose of ensuring the participant’s successful transition to an independent employment with natural supports at the work site.
• Active job coaching, developing specific job skills and/or work environment skills.
• Identifying non-employment challenges impacting on a participant’s work performance and linking to external service providers.
• Provide employment maintenance services to consumers and their employers.
• Comply with privacy and confidentiality as outlined in agency, provincial and federal policies and/or guidelines.
• Maintain consumer files and document participant activities.
• Provide statistical and program information as requested.
• Coordinate participants’ transition to an independent work environment with staff.
• Participate in program development with observations and suggestions for improvement.
• Participate in staff planning and development activities.
• Attend and participate in regularly scheduled program meetings.
• Participate in regular supervision/consultation with the Program Manager.

You are

ASenior Job Coach. In consultation with the Program Manager, you will participate in all aspects of planning and provision of the various projects/programs. You are responsible for developing employment connections in the community, recruitment and intake of consumers to the program, vocational planning with participants and for providing on-site support to participants and employers while on work experience or job experience.

Your Role

• Recruitment and Intake of consumers to the program. Provide one-on-one and group support to participants for vocational planning, including general interest identification, assessment of employment readiness, job search skills, and aptitudes. Completion of all paperwork and various reporting responsibilities.
• Connect and build relationships with employers in the community to develop a pool of employers and workplaces receptive to hosting job shadow and work experience placements and to considering consumers for employment openings. Knowledgeable about current and future employment opportunities in the community. Research potential employers for the development of future partnerships.
• Provide community-based job training/support to participants in work experience situations, which may include systematically training participants to perform job duties while on the job, to ensure quality and timely completion of the work.
• Provide on-site support to participants and/or employers for the purpose of ensuring the participant’s successful transition to an independent employment with natural supports at the work site. Activities may include:
• Active job coaching, developing specific job skills and/or work environment skills
• Identifying any non-employment challenges impacting on a participant’s work performance, providing information and linkages to participants to external service providers to address personal issues impacting on work performance.
• Provide employment maintenance services to consumers and their employers
• Comply with privacy and confidentiality as outlined in agency, provincial and federal policies and/or guidelines.
• Maintain consumer files in accordance with Program/project procedures. (documenting participant activities through detailed contact notes, case notes, correspondence, date of contact, on-site activity and participant’s progress).
• Provide statistical and program information as requested. Maintenance of various recording and documentation of program activities.
• Works closely with the staff to coordinate participants’ transition to an independent work environment.
• Participate in program development by contributing, observations regarding consumer needs, program effectiveness and program gaps and suggestions and ideas for improvement.
• Participate in staff planning and development activities.
• Attends and participates in regularly scheduled program meetings.
• Participate in regular supervision/consultation with the Program Manager.
