Job summary

Anspayaxw Education Society in Kispiox, BC, invites applications for two Intermediate Teaching positions for the 2025/2026 school year. Start date: September 2st 2025/2026 school year.

Qualifications include a Bachelor of Education and BC Teacher Certification eligibility, plus experience with First Nations students. Candidates should be skilled communicators, self-motivated, compassionate, empathetic, and able to manage challenging behavior while integrating technology and First Nations culture

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver intermediate level instruction and assessments.
  • Incorporate First Nations culture and traditional knowledge into lessons.
  • Utilize technology and web-based resources in instruction.
  • Maintain effective communication with students and parents.

Two Intermediate Teaching Position

Start date: September 2st 2025/2026 school year.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • Must have or be eligible for BC Teacher Certification
  • Experience working with First Nations students
  • Good communication skills, self-motivated, compassionate, empathetic, and enthusiastic;
  • Ability to manage challenging student behaviors.
Knowledge and experience:
  • Primary Programs: Read Well, Saxon Math, Acadience Reading
  • Intermediate programs: Reading Mastery, Six Minute Solution, Jump Math/Math Focus, Corrective Reading, Third Quest
  • Effective classroom management skills;
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture;
  • Effective planning strategies which include lesson plans, unit plans and year plans;
  • Comprehensive assessment strategies which accommodate First Nations learning styles;
  • Willingness to integrate appropriate technologies in the classroom;
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs;
  • Willingness to incorporate a variety of teaching methods to motivate and encourage students including the use of traditional knowledge in the outdoors and on the land;
  • Willingness to participate in local community and cultural events;
  • Experience using technology and web-based resources in instruction including Smartboards and IPads;
  • Maintains effective and consistent communication with students and parents to discuss progress and goals
  • Monitor virtual classrooms during distance/remote learning: student progress, student attendance, student mental health
