Job summary

Vancouver Island West (School District 84) seeks an enthusiastic teacher for Kyuquot Elementary Secondary School on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The position is a temporary 1.0 FTE, effective September 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, or the return of the incumbent.

The successful candidate will deliver secondary Generalist instruction with emphasis on Science, Math and PHE, be adaptable to outdoor settings, and support student well-being and inclusive learning in a First Nations community.

Qualifications

  • Valid BC Certification with the TCB at elementary level.
  • Preference for multi-grade classroom experience.

Kyuquot Elementary Secondary School is a small BC public school located on the beautiful west coast of Vancouver Island, enrolling approximately 43 students from Grades 1-12, the majority being of First Nations ancestry. The Village of Kyuquot is sheltered by a unique and picturesque archipelago and surrounded by the beautiful wilderness of the Pacific West Coast of Vancouver Island.

The school is seeking an enthusiastic, resourceful and proficient teacher who would be excited to foster the two goals of the District's Education Plan: supporting student well-being and ensuring success for all learners.

Temporary 1.0 Fte Teacher Required

Essential Qualifications
  • Valid BC Certification with the TCB with qualifications and experience at the elementary level, preferably in a multi-grade classroom.
