Job Description

The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician inspects, maintains, repairs, and installs mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment at plant and/or pump stations.

Main Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain, install, replace, troubleshoot, and diagnose machinery and mechanical equipment such as centrifuges, pumps, conveyors, hydraulic presses, dewatering presses, belts, and fans using hand tools and testing instruments.
• Inspect completed repairs and recommend solutions.
• Adhere strictly to safety legislation and procedures.
• Estimate time and material costs for electrical and mechanical projects.
• Requisition supplies and materials as needed.
• Work from engineering drawings, sketches, manuals, or verbal instructions to install equipment per specifications.
• Provide performance feedback to motivate and ensure adherence to procedures and standards.
• Complete work orders and communicate follow-up actions.
• Disassemble machines for repairs or parts replacement.
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain equipment in proper operating condition.
• Occasionally perform machine operator duties.
• Assist colleagues with questions or issues related to tasks.

Qualifications

• Valid 442A or 309A Electrician Licence; dual tickets are valued.
• Minimum 2 years' experience as an industrial electrician, preferably in heavy industrial environments.
• Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing plant equipment.
• Experience with machinery, vehicles, and hand/power tools.
• Ability to work in a team and take on additional responsibilities.
• Thorough knowledge of safety legislation.
• Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Reliable with a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Good hand-eye coordination and flexibility to rotate across facilities.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced, physically demanding, with repetitive tasks and attention to detail.
• Potentially dusty environment with organic material odors.
• Own transportation required.
• Rotating shifts: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM and 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM; weekend work may be required.
