ENERCON is seeking experienced Wind Turbine Technician – Journeyman Electrician to join our installation team. In this role, you will play a critical role in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of ENERCON wind turbines, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, functionality, and quality.

This is a travel-intensive position with assignments across Canadian provinces and occasional international opportunities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Installation and Commissioning

  • Assist, supervise, and perform the installation of electrical components, including cable connections and SCADA communication systems.
  • Commission ENERCON wind turbine models while adhering to company protocols and safety standards.
  • Establish initial power connections to turbines, including medium-voltage transformer rooms.
  • Verify, adjust, and repair electrical systems and components, addressing issues promptly.
  • Conduct inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and fault-finding for electrical and mechanical components.

Operational Maintenance and Reporting

  • Prepare detailed work reports, commissioning/repair protocols, and ensure timely, accurate documentation.
  • Perform software updates and document commissioning progress comprehensively.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop method statements when needed.
  • Stay current with turbine technologies, upgrades, and best practices, and suggest training opportunities.
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are completed on time and maintain effective communication with supervisors and colleagues.

Component Installation and Troubleshooting

  • Install additional components such as ice detectors, blade heating systems, grease systems, and anemometers.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues using provided diagrams, addressing defects and reporting findings.
  • Retrofit key electrical components to improve turbine functionality.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

  • Strictly adhere to all HSE protocols, ensuring the safety of all personnel on-site.
  • Complete and submit required HSE documentation promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of construction sites and equipment, promoting a safe work environment.

Travel and Teamwork

  • Travel extensively to ENERCON sites across Canada and internationally, including assignments lasting up to 4 weeks.
  • Collaborate effectively with installation and service teams to ensure smooth execution of projects.
  • Provide support for service site operations when needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Coordinate efficiently with ENERCON employees, contractors, and customers to resolve issues and facilitate communication.

Additional

  • Follow commissioning protocols and supervisor instructions to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and vehicles to support smooth operations.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or certification in electromechanics, electricity, or wind turbine maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, or related tasks.
  • Wind turbine experience preferred.
  • Journeyman Certification or Canadian Red Seal Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in English and French preferred.
  • Ability to work at heights (absence of vertigo) and physically fit for demanding tasks.
  • Proficiency with computers (MS Office Suite, MAM, Lotus).
  • Valid driver’s license (Category B).
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including international assignments.
