Job summary

Trench Canada is seeking an Indirect Materials Procurement Specialist to lead strategic sourcing for indirect materials, CAPEX, and services in Pickering/Scarborough. You will drive negotiations, supplier selection, and data-driven decisions to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, IT, and HR to ensure alignment with business goals while maintaining governance and risk controls.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain in manufacturing/industrial settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, law, or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract drafting, commercial law, and procurement legislation.
  • Proficient in procurement tools and ERP systems; strong Excel for analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex negotiations and define contract terms, pricing, and service levels.
  • Manage CAPEX and indirect materials procurement, including logistics and services.

Overview

In this role, you will develop and executesourcing strategies for indirect materials, services, and capital equipment(CAPEX) investments including logistics, to support our operations and growthobjectives. You will lead supplier selection, contract negotiations, andcost-reduction initiatives, and collaborate cross-functionally withEngineering, Operations, Finance, Facilities, IT, Manufacturing, HR,Operational Excellence and Quality teams to ensure competitive pricing,quality, delivery, risk management, and compliance while maximizing total costof ownership (TCO).

Your Tasks:
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations, defining contract structures, commercial terms, pricing models, and service levels to secure optimal total cost of ownership, supply reliability, and full compliance with internal policies and legal requirements; take full ownership of contract administration and lifecycle management.
  • Manage strategic sourcing and purchasing of high-value, long-term capital equipment (CAPEX) including machinery, plant infrastructure, and manufacturing tools alongside day-to-day indirect materials, MRO supplies, facility services, logistics and general operational goods & services.
  • Drive the end-to-end sourcing process where applicable, including preparation of RFQs/RFPs, bid evaluation, cost and value analysis, and recommendation of sourcing decisions aligned with business objectives.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the supplier master data, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with audit and governance standards.
  • Continuously analyze and optimize procurement processes to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, lower costs, and strengthen supply chain resilience.
  • Prepare and present detailed periodic reports and procurement analyses for management, supporting decision-making with insights and data.
  • Collaborate closely with all departments to align procurement activities with operational and strategic needs.
Requirements:
  • Solid and demonstrable experience (5+ years) as a Commodity Buyer, Procurement Specialist, or similar role in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment, with exposure to complex sourcing categories including indirect materials/ CAPEX and Logistics.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, law, or a related field required.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract drafting, commercial law, and applicable procurement legislation, with the ability to assess legal and financial risks.
  • High proficiency in procurement tools and ERP systems and advanced Microsoft
  • Excel skills for spend analytics, modeling, and reporting.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence, challenge, and build long-term supplier relationships and networks.
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment, manage multiple priorities, and consistently deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy in managing procurement documentation, contracts, and reporting, paired with a creative, assertive, and motivational, customer-oriented attitude.

The expected compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000 Annually. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on several job-related factors, including relevant education, depth and breadth of experience, professional certifications or license, specialized skills aligned with the role, and internal equity considerations.
