Job summary

Trench Canada is looking for a Logistics Specialist to plan, coordinate, and monitor shipments across North America and international destinations from our Scarborough facility.

You will work with Order Management, Production Planning, Warehouse Operations, and carriers to ensure on-time dispatch, cost optimization, and regulatory compliance while maintaining high levels of customer service.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years in transportation/logistics/distribution.
  • College diploma or university degree in relevant field.
  • CIFFA certificate is required.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms and HS codes.
  • Dangerous Goods certification required.
  • Experience with SAP and MS Office.
  • Experience coordinating domestic and international freight.
  • Familiarity with freight modes: LTL/FTL/air/ocean.
  • Fluent in English; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze shipping requests and coordinate domestic and international outbound shipments.
  • Coordinate shipments with carriers and freight forwarders.
  • Manage cost-effective transport modes and route optimization.
  • Prepare shipping and customs paperwork.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and dangerous goods handling.

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Specialist to join our Logistics team. This position plays a key role in planning, coordinating, and monitoring domestic and international shipments to ensure products reach customers safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable transportation regulations. The Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating the transportation of finished goods — including air core reactors, line traps and instrument transformers— from our Scarborough manufacturing facility to customers throughout North America and international destinations. The successful candidate will work closely with Order Management, Production Planning, Warehouse Operations, freight forwarders, transportation carriers, customs brokers, and customers to ensure timely shipment execution, transportation cost optimization, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service.

Your Tasks
  • Analyze shipping requests and coordinate domestic and international outbound shipments.
  • Knowledgeable in specialized equipment, i.e. over-dimensional and heavy-haul shipments of large power equipment such as reactors and transformers, and road permit processes.
  • Knowledgeable with Master Tracking Application, Transportation Management System, AGISTIX and ABF system.
  • Select cost-effective transportation modes, including LTL, FTL, air, ocean, and expedited freight.
  • Source carriers, obtain freight quotations, and arrange transportation with logistics providers.
  • Coordinate shipment schedules with warehouse teams to ensure on-time dispatch.
  • Track shipments, resolve transportation issues, and communicate delivery updates to stakeholders.
  • Prepare shipping and customs documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, and export documents.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, customs requirements, and dangerous goods standards for dielectric fluid-filled equipment (e.g., Class 9), where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records, freight costs, and logistics data using SAP.
  • Monitor carrier performance, investigate freight claims, and recommend process improvements.
  • Support month-end shipping activities while ensuring compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and other logistics-related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Analyze and process freight invoices for both inbound and outbound shipments using nVision Global system.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2+ years in transportation/logistics/distribution.
  • College Diploma or University Degree in Business, Logistics, or International Trade is preferable.
  • CIFFA certificate is required.
  • Knowledge in Letters of Credit and Returns Goods Authorization.
  • Dangerous Goods Certification is required.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms.
  • Understanding of tariff classification (HS Codes), country of origin rules, and applicable trade agreements.
  • Experience working with SAP & Office Suite proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating domestic and international freight.
  • Knowledge of trucking, LTL, FTL, ocean and air freight.
  • Experience working with freight forwarders and transportation carriers.
  • Working knowledge of transportation cargo claims, transportation laws and risk management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in English is a must. Fluency in French is preferred asset.
  • Experience working in manufacturing environment.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency Act, we are committed to providing clear and accessible information about compensation for this role. The expected compensation range for this position is $64,000 - $74,000 / Annually. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on several job-related factors, including relevant education, depth and breadth of experience, professional certifications or license, specialized skills aligned with the role, and internal equity considerations.
