Job summary

Overview
  • Build collaborative relationships, empower, coach, and actively engage unionized and non-unionized employees to advance our Safety 1st Culture.
  • Provide guidance and support to our joint health and safety committee members to promote and improve our EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct regular EHS walkthroughs, respond to unsafe acts/behaviours, and support team safety walks.
  • Contribute to EHS onboarding, training, safety week, earth week, and other local/global EHS initiatives.
  • Provide contractor safe start induction training and assist with contractor safety submissions.
  • Provide regular coaching and feedback to our teams to ensure compliance with all relevant occupational health and safety and environmental legislated and legal requirements.
  • Bring your creative ideas and apply your expertise to support the continual improvement of our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
  • Prepare engaging reports, communications, and newsletters.
  • Make an impact through the design, and delivery of EHS projects and initiatives focused on the prevention of injury, illness, and environmental impact.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support organizational projects and provide technical EHS expertise with a focus on risk mitigation.
  • Provide direction and support on policies, procedures, guidelines, and other general items.
  • Monitor EHS related trends, KPI’s and data (e.g., incidents, hazard observation safety application, leadership safety walk, observation-based safety submissions).
Requirements
  • Must possess a post-secondary degree/diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Health Sciences, Human Resources, or a comparable field.
  • Holds or is willing to obtain the Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or equivalent designation.
  • At least 2 to 4 years of experience working in a defined EHS role(s), ideally in the industrial manufacturing sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of Provincial (Ontario) and Federal (Canada) legal and legislated health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Effective communication, planning and organizing skills.
  • Strong teamwork, cooperation, and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgment with proficiency in applying incident investigation and risk assessment methodologies.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency Act, we are committed to providing clear and accessible information about compensation for this role. The expected compensation range for this position is CAD $55,000 - $70,000 Annually. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on several job-related factors, including relevant education, depth and breadth of experience, professional certifications or license, specialized skills aligned with the role, and internal equity considerations. This role offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including paid vacation, group health benefits, pension plan, bonus, and additional employee programs.
