Job summary

St. Clement's School in Kaslo, BC is seeking an Education Assistant to support students with diverse needs under the guidance of teachers and the school team.

The role focuses on implementing IEP objectives, behaviour support, and academic assistance in an inclusive classroom setting. You'll collaborate with staff, maintain records, monitor progress, and help with life skills, social-emotional learning and daily care needs.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Education assistant certificate or equivalent qualifications.
• One year experience working with children with diverse needs.
• Current crisis intervention programs using non-violent communication.
• Level 1 First Aid certification is an asset.
• POPARD training is an asset.
• A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Participates in assessment, design, implementation, and monitoring of interventions.
• Assists in development and evaluation of behaviour programs.
• Provides academic support.
• Monitors behaviour support programs with observation, records, and follow-up.
• Responds to emergent issues and recommends resources.
• Intervenes in crisis situations and supports safety planning.
• Maintains regular communication with students and the school team.
• Assists in planning life and social skills with the team.
• Keeps accurate records of student progress and writes reports.
