Job summary

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Education assistant certificate (1-year post-secondary) or equivalent.
• One year’s experience with children with diverse needs.
• Current crisis intervention programs using non-violent communication.
• Level 1 First Aid certification is an asset.
• POPARD training is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Participates in assessment, design, implementation and monitoring of interventions.
• Assists in development, implementation and evaluation of behaviour programs.
• Provides academic support to students.
• Monitors and supports behaviour management strategies.
• Communicates with students and families in collaboration with the school team.
• Intervenes in crisis situations and applies supportive strategies.
• Maintains records and reports for students’ progress and IEPs.
• Assists in planning and providing life and social skills training.
• Supports students’ social-emotional learning and executive functioning.
