Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs in its schools. Under the Principal, duties include assisting students with ASD and developmental disabilities, participating in pool programs, implementing special programs, and supporting deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students.

Ideal candidates hold a college diploma in Developmental Services Worker or Child and Youth Care, with 1-2 years related experience.

Qualifications

• DSW/CYW or equivalent required.
• Autism experience preferred.
• Proficient with assistive technology.
• Ability to modify programs for learning disabilities.
• Experience with crisis intervention and behavior management.
• Strong collaboration and problem solving.
• Good computer skills.
• Able to perform yard duties and toileting.

Responsibilities

• Support students with ASD and developmental disabilities.
• Participate in pool programs and physiotherapy exercises.
• Modify programs for speech/language needs and other issues.
• Assist with outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and pool duties.
