Description

You know how to provide sound advice and build confidence through your support.

At Germain Hotels, Human Resources is closely connected to our teams and managers. We are looking for a Human Resources Advisor who enjoys understanding day-to-day operational realities, supporting managers in their decisions and finding solutions that are fair, practical and adapted to each situation.

In this versatile role, you will contribute to several aspects of the employee experience, from labour relations and performance management to health and safety, benefits and HR processes. Your judgment, rigour and ability to build trusted relationships will make you a valued partner to our managers and teams.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Advise and support managers with employee-related matters, including performance management, absenteeism, disciplinary measures and the application of policies and collective agreements.
  • Take ownership of various labour relations matters, from assessing situations and recommending appropriate actions to supporting their implementation, including grievance follow-up when required.
  • Ensure the accurate management of employee files and employment changes, including status changes, leaves, absences and departures.
  • Support processes related to compensation, benefits and payroll in collaboration with the appropriate internal teams.
  • Contribute to workplace health and safety initiatives, including prevention as well as the management of workplace injuries, disabilities, absences and return-to-work processes.
  • Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of HR data and contribute to the ongoing development of our systems, tools and processes.
  • Help managers build greater autonomy through coaching, training and practical tools.
  • Participate in the deployment of initiatives related to performance, development, recognition, engagement and the employee experience.
  • Use HR data and key indicators to support decision-making, identify trends and uncover opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to various projects and to the continuous improvement of our HR practices and processes.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • A university degree in Industrial Relations, Human Resources Management or a related field, combined with three to five years of experience in an HR advisory role.
  • Solid experience in labour relations, performance management and advising managers; experience in a unionized environment is considered a strong asset.
  • Good knowledge of employment and labour legislation, along with the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and collective agreements.
  • Sound judgment and confidence in assessing sensitive or complex situations, making recommendations and supporting their implementation.
  • A good understanding of workplace health and safety, absence management and return-to-work practices.
  • Knowledge of compensation, benefits and payroll principles.
  • Comfort working with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and HR data; experience implementing or optimizing HR systems is considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple files and priorities while ensuring thorough follow-up.
  • A collaborative approach, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with managers at different levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English, as you will regularly collaborate with English-speaking colleagues and partners across Canada.
