Job Overview:
As a key member of our leadership team, the HR Business Partner will lead and deliver full-cycle HR operations while supporting business growth initiatives. This is a hands-on, standalone role, ideal for a strategic individual who thrives in entrepreneurial environments. The successful candidate will have strong business acumen, experience building HR foundations from the ground up, and a passion for scaling teams to support organizational growth.
This role will work closely with senior leadership to attract top talent, align people strategies with business objectives, and implement practical, scalable HR solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Generalist
• Oversee employee relations and performance management programs.
• Manage benefits administration and employee engagement initiatives.
• Support compliance for both federally and provincially regulated employees. • Develop and implement HR processes that streamline operations and enable fiscally responsible decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement across HR practices and employee experiences.
Business Partnership
• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on organizational design, talent development, and workforce strategies.
• Provide insight and alignment with broader business goals. Build scalable HR infrastructure, programs, and systems to meet current and future organizational needs. • Manage and analyze exit interviews to deliver actionable insights that strengthen retention strategies and enhance the employee experience.
Recruitment & Onboarding
• Lead full-cycle recruitment and workforce planning to support growth.
• Deliver structured, consistent onboarding programs across the business. • Act as the first point of contact for all employee HR-related inquiries.
• Champion a responsive, supportive employee service culture.
Compensation, Compliance & Best Practices
• Design and manage competitive, cost-effective compensation structures and salary bands. • Draft and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks to support compliance, culture, and consistency.
• Ensure HR documentation, processes, and employee practices meet legislative requirements and align with HR best practices across Western Canada
Qualifications & Experience
• 7+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or HR business partner role. • Proven ability to lead recruitment, onboarding, policy development, and employee service functions.
• Strong track record of operational excellence and fiscally responsible HR practices. • Experience supporting organizations through business growth and scaling phases. • High business acumen with the ability to align HR initiatives with organizational objectives.
• Ability to work independently with a proactive mindset, maintain confidentiality with discretion, and build effective systems from the ground up.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• MBA or equivalent business-focused graduate degree.
• CHRP or CPHR designation (or working toward certification).
• Experience in logistics, transportation, or construction industries is an asset. • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices in Alberta and Western Canada.
