PCL Constructors Canada Inc. is seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Student for the Toronto District within the Canadian Buildings Division.

The role is available for 4 or 8 months starting January 2027, offering hands-on experience in an environment that promotes growth and safety excellence. You will support inspections, document management, training material development, and safety program activities while learning how to apply environmental requirements and project-specific safety

Qualifications

  • Experience implementing HSE program elements and safe operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements and compliance systems.
  • Ability to plan preventative measures to reduce exposure to hazards.
  • Ability to determine the cause of an incident and implement corrective action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist HSE professionals with inspections and investigations.
  • Manage documents: data entry, minutes, filing, etc.
  • Assist with new employee orientation.
  • Develop training materials.
  • Review safety paperwork and trend analyses.
  • Monitor and maintain environmental program.
  • Follow project safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze site trends/incidents and report findings to district.
  • Gather and distribute safety-related statistics.
  • Interpret and reinforce project safety standards to workforce.

We are seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Student , for our Toronto District , within our Canadian Buildings Division that is available for 4 month or 8 months starting January 2027.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigations
  • Managing documents (ie. data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing etc.)
  • Assisting with the orientation of new employees
  • Developing of training materials
  • Reviewing paperwork (ie. PSI, tailgate meetings, safework procedure, trend analysis)
  • Monitoring and maintaining the environmental program
  • Recognizing and following PCL and local legislative requirements
  • Analyzing site-specific trends and incidents and reporting findings to district
  • Gathering/reviewing/distributing safety-related statistical information
  • Interpreting, communicating, and reinforcing project safety standards to workforce
Qualifications
  • Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems which meet compliance
  • Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards
  • The ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrence
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong willingness to learn

The estimated hourly range for this role is $21.37- $31.33, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
