Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in construction.
  • Accredited HSE certification is preferred.

Position Summary
The HSE Specialist works with line management to ensure support is provided in achieving zero incident performance in safety, health, and environmental goals.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Identifies opportunities to improve safety and environmental performance and makes recommendations based on findings
  2. Monitors local regulations and client requirements and standards along with company policies and standards to ensure compliance
  3. Assists with directing accident/incident investigation, reporting and/or facilitation of root cause analysis
  4. Performs administrative duties as needed
  5. Coordinates safety training at the project or corporate level
  6. Coordinates purchasing of safety supplies/PPE
  7. May administer corporate or project level drug and alcohol program
  8. May coordinate safe standard work practices with line personnel and monitor conformance through safety inspections
  9. May evaluate compliance with organizational, government health and safety, and environmental standards
  10. May monitor organizational safety, health, and environmental performance

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Accredited HSE certification preferred (CRSP, NCSO)
  3. Three (3) or more years working in a similar role
  4. Experience in the Construction industry an asset
  5. Bilingual is an asset
  6. Must have a valid G Driver’s license

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  1. Flexibility for travel; visits various locations
  2. Flexibility in scheduling to meet operational demands
  3. Works both indoors and outdoors, exposure to all weather conditions
  4. Standing, sitting, walking, speaking
  5. Use of Computer/keyboard
  6. Working in a safety-sensitive culture
