The Safety / EHS Advisor will be responsible for actively promoting a health, safety, and environmental culture at all levels of employees, following Aecon’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Manual policies and procedures.

What You'll Do Here :

  1. Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
  2. Conduct employee health and safety orientations and site-specific safety orientations for workers, owners, and clients.
  3. Train employees in fall protection, confined space entry, traffic protection, traffic control, WHMIS, respiratory protection, and emergency response.
  4. Coordinate training sessions such as WHMIS, First Aid, etc.
  5. Conduct workplace inspections and safety audits.
  6. Perform behavioral observations in the workplace.
  7. Develop workplace plans, including emergency evacuations, fire emergencies, traffic controls, and fall protection procedures.
  8. Distribute safety materials, supplies, and equipment as needed to team members.
  9. Deliver safety presentations to clients and promote Aecon safety systems to potential industry clients.
  10. Participate as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committees.
  11. Analyze accident trends and conduct safety studies.
  12. Inspect project facilities and recommend corrective actions, including environmental issue coordination.
  13. Collaborate with the Claims Administrator to assist with workers' compensation claims and related activities.
  14. Develop return-to-work and modified work programs.
  15. Mediates health and safety issues for resolution.
  16. Prepare for and assist with external safety audits.

What You Bring to the Team :

  1. Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.
  2. OHS experience within Oil & Gas projects is an asset.
  3. Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects.
  4. Knowledge of other regulations, e.g., WHMIS, Asbestos in Construction, Designated Substances, Smoking in the Workplace.
  5. Ability to work independently and proactively.
  6. Champion of inclusion and diversity.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong relationship management abilities.
  8. Flexible schedule adaptability to meet deadlines.
  9. Valid G driver's license.

The pay range for this position is $70K to $100K.
