About the Role:
This position supports the development, implementation, and management of site Health and Safety systems to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in performance and culture aligned with Ferrero Group standards. The role involves educating employees, monitoring safety procedures, and promoting organizational compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Training and Development:
- Develop site-specific policies and training programs for Lock Out Tag Out, Aerial Work Platforms, Fall Arrest, WHMIS, Forklift operations, Crane, and others, ensuring renewal as per CSA and OHSA standards.
- Assist with New Hire Orientation, ensuring comprehensive training before facility entry.
- Create annual training calendars and schedule safety training sessions.
- Support the UGP Manager to ensure all supervisors and team leaders have required certifications such as Cert 1&2, First Aid, etc.
- Claims Management:
- Assist in managing WSIB claims from injury occurrence to closure.
- Coordinate with doctors, adjudicators, and injured employees for updates, appeals, and related matters.
- Return to Work:
- Collaborate with injured employees and supervisors to assign suitable duties within medical restrictions for safe, early return to work.
- Monitor employee progress and ensure ongoing improvement on modified duties until full recovery.
- Work with WSIB Return to Work Specialists to ensure modified duties are adequate and approved.
- Daily Safety Activities:
- Assist supervisors in managing unsafe work conditions.
- Ensure employees have proper tools and equipment.
- Support employees and line leads on safety concerns.
- Assist with safety investigations.
- Joint Health and Safety Committee (Management Chair):
- Support monthly safety meetings and ensure members are trained.
- Conduct building audits to identify hazards.
- Address work refusals and related issues.
- Support sign-offs on Pre-Start Reviews and Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
- Injury/Incident/Hazard Analysis and Investigations:
- Investigate major incidents for severity and root causes.
- Support investigations of minor incidents, near misses, and data entry for reports.
- Analyze injury trends and present findings at meetings.
- Health and Safety Program Evolution:
- Ensure compliance through audits and address non-compliance issues.
- Support continuous improvement of safety standards and programs.
- Environment (Chemical Storage):
- Assist in implementing and maintaining the Environmental Management System.
- Quality and Food Safety:
- Ensure adherence to quality and food safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Level 1 and 2 Safety Certifications.
- Knowledge of federal, provincial, and local regulations (OHSA, WSIB, etc.).
- Experience with Safety Culture, SIF, PSIF, HOP (preferred).
- Post-secondary education in Health & Safety.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Power BI.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong investigative and analytical abilities.
